The “Teaching Excellence Campaign”

Under the leadership of Manhattan Catholic Schools (MCS) Superintendent, Reverend Joseph Popelka; MCS Principal, Tom Schmitz; and the Council of Education, the school has developed a strong vision and plan of action for its future.

The MCS Long-range Planning Committee has identified both long and short-term objectives to achieve continued growth and development.  The committee prepares a strategic plan that is a dynamic document with an ection plan that is evaluated and modified each year.  The plan has identified a distinct group of priorities for MCS, which include:

  • Teacher Recruitment and Retention
  • Student Recruitment and Retention
  • Enhancement of Curriculum and Academic Resources
  • Enhancement of Religious Education and Spirituality
  • Improvements to Physical Plant
  • Financial Security

Pursuing these priorities require significant financial resources. Those who personally honor and value the educational and spiritual ideals of Manhattan Catholic Schools and help with financial support make it possible for the school to continue its proven tradition of excellence...thank you so much.

Manhattan Catholic Schools has long been recognized as an outstanding educational institution. The school’s K-8th grade programs provide an exceptional academic and spiritual experience to nearly 300 children. This wonderful reputation is largely due to the high quality of our teachers.

Teacher recruitment and retention is a key component to the school’s ability to maintain its high standard of excellence and accomplish the goals outlined above.  However, the MCS teaching staff is paid approximately 20% less than their counterparts in the public school system.  We believe it is imperative that we provide teachers a paid health care benefit option and move toward faculty compensation parity with the public school system in order to continue to attract and retain our exceptional teaching staff.

We ask that you strongly consider making a commitment to the Monsignor Luckey Endowment Fund in support of the Teaching Excellence Campaign.

We do wish to recognize your support and have several naming opportunities we could discuss with you.  If you would like to make a pledge to the endowment or discuss various types of giving arrangements, please the Development Director at (785)565-5060.

Thanks you again for your commitment to the students and teachers of Manhattan Catholic Schools!
